cultural

                                              CULTURAL
Hello  bloggers today I will be blogging me and my families  culture background.

I am full Samoan and I was born in New Zealand, I have 8 siblings 4 brothers and 3 sisters, 4 of my siblings were born in New Zealand like me, 3 of my siblings were born in Samoa. My family moved to New Zealand at 2006, we don't really get to spend that much time with my mum's family because most people from her side live in Samoa, that's why we spend more time with my dad's side because most of his family members live in New Zealand But we do get to face time them, I have never been back to Samoa ever since I was 5 years old.

Blog you later!!!!

Swimming

                                                                       Swimming
Hello Bloggers, this term Waikowhai students have been doing a lot of Swimming because it is summer. We swim in our school pool every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and sometimes every Thursday and Tuesday, Sometimes we go in classes some times we will have free time in the pool. The whole school takes time to go inside the pool for example one of the senior classes will go then the next class will go after, once all senior classes have been in the pool, the Middle school will go after the next break. Most kids love the pool because we can do whatever but we are just not allowed to dunk people under water or even piggy bank or shoulder ride anyone because they might fall drown and crack their head at the bottom or the side of the pool. We are also not allowed to throw people around the pool because we have to be safe around each other and respect each other.

Choir

                                                                           Choir
On Monday the 25th of November we had our dress rehearsal, On the 26th of November the year 5 and year 6's went to the town hall to perform for choir. The year 5 and year 6's practiced so much songs to get ready for the choir. When we went to perform for the choir there were lots and lots of people there, and lots of schools joined together to sing. There were a few conductors that were teaching the songs, the ones that were there were, Miss McGrath, Mr Lambert, Ms Mount Castle. We also had Mrs Ward who played the piano. We had so much fun because we sang a lot of songs and also we had other groups come in and their audition, the groups were the,Kapa Haka group, Instruments, and other groups. Our choir started at 6:45 and finished at 9:30. Most of the kids parents couldn't come so they had to come with other students from our school that is in choir. I had to go with my friend in her car, it was getting so hot in the hall but it was so awesome to see a lot of people coming to watch. Everyone had an awesome day at choir.

create tumble

                                              Create Tumble
Last week Te Waka Ako did a Create Tumble. We did a lot of different activities, we had 11 activities we had to do. The ones we did were Origami Frog, Marshmallow Tower, Playdough Insect, Cutting Patterns, Making Butter, Plasticine Character, Pavement Art, Lego Place, and Paper planes. The only one that I liked the most was Marshmallow Tower. The reason why I picked Marshmallow Tower it is because it was fun to try and make the biggest tower with marshmallow and toothpicks, and I also liked it because I love maths and I love Marshmallows.

Pillow day

                                                                       PIlLOW DAY
On Thursday the 19th of September The Seniors got to Bring a pillow each. We even had a Duffy Assembly, so what we did after the assembly was reading our books. We did so much fun things like playing Kahoot, made our own pillow designs in different fonts and also we did some cool maths like enlargements. With our enlargements we got to draw a picture of a face then do it 2x bigger on the good piece. One of the junior classes came to the senior courts to read with us their class name is Toutouwai. We enjoyed reading with them because they got to listen to us read them their new favorite books. It was fun because it was basically like Family Fun Day except it was Pillow Day and also we had to still wear uniform. When we had our pillows it felt like I was still at home, we didn't really get to go to sleep but at least we got to do fun things anyway.

We got to lay down on the courts when we read our Duffy books witch was kind of cool. The ways we designed our pillows were awesome because we got to do it in a Growth Mindset, Te Reo Maori and our first languages some students brang pillows that had thoughtful messages like d
ream big and stay positive It was cool to see a lot of senior students bring pillows.
